CERAMIC TILES
We supply a large and luxurious selection of glazed ceramic tiles for walls and light duty floors in a huge spectrum of colours, sizes and surface textures. We also search out and match old tile designs where possible. Ceramic tiles are also known as Earthenware and mainly used as a glazed wall tile, however there are two different technologies that are used in making ceramic tiles. First is Monoporasa which is a single firing technique at temperatures between 950 – 1150°C and the liquid glaze is applied onto the tile immediately then the desired decorations are applied. The second technique is called double firing or biopsy. The tile body is fired first after which it is glazed, decorated and then fired again.
Porcelain tiles
We offer one of the most extensive ranges of unglazed porcelain stoneware for walls and heavy duty floors. Colours ranging from creamy whites to slate blacks and incredibly vibrant colours in-between. All faithfully replicating the look of a natural stone. This is an innovative and technical selection that is stain resistant, frost proof and highly durable. Porcelain Stoneware is characterised by its very low water absorption rate of less than 0.5% which is a development of stoneware tiles whose water absorption rate lies under 3%. Porcelain stoneware is manufactured under high pressure by dry-pressing fine processed ceramic raw materials with large proportions of quartz, feldspar and other fluxes, Afterwards, the body is baked at high temperatures between 1200 – 1300°C in a roller passage kiln.
Mosaic tiles
Available in a variaty of single, mixed and blended colors and even designer patterns. The mosaic range includes glass, metal, ceramic, marble, granite and limestone tiles. All carefully manufactured on versatile and flexible sheets. The great thing with mosaics, are that they are versatile and flexible and can be used to create interesting and unusual patterns, or even pictures ! Much like pixels in a digital photograph.
Glass Tiles
Are a fantastic material for adding some decorative touches or creating unique patterns. And whats more is that they look amazing when used in combination with other tiling materials such as stone or ceramic. Also known as Smalti Tiles, sometimes referred to as Byzantine glass mosaic tiles. Glass tiles that were originally developed for use in mosaics, created during the time of the Byzantine empire. Glass Tiles are made by mixing molten glass with metal oxides for color, the result is a cloudy mixture that is poured into flat slabs that are cooled and broken into individual pieces. Since the 1990s a variety of modern glass tile technologies, including methods to take a used glass and recreate it as ‘green’ tiles, has resulted in a resurgence of interest in glass tiles as a floor and wall cladding.
Natural stone tiles
A prestige selection of distinctive natural stone tiles quarried in an incredible selection of colours, sizes and finishes. Natural stone is incredibly hard wearing making it an ideal choice for flooring projects. Natural stone tiles are great for giving your home a natural calm and clean cut feeling.
